Dr. Erik Gelke

Erik Gelke studied law at the University of Cologne and completed his legal clerkship in the Higher Regional Court district there, with a traineeship in a commercial law firm in Hamburg. After his second state examination, he worked in scientific research at the Munich Institute for Copyright and Media Law. He completed his doctorate with Professor Dr Rehbinder at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg on a copyright law topic.

Erik Gelke was admitted to the bar in 2012. Before joining LLR's Cologne office in 2023, he worked for a leading international intellectual property law firm in Düsseldorf as well as for a commercial law firm in Cologne practising internationally with a focus on commercial, distribution and corporate law.

Erik Gelke provides comprehensive advice on commercial and corporate law as well as media law. One of his main areas of expertise is contract law for nationally and internationally operating companies. In disputes, Erik Gelke also regularly represents his clients in court. He also has many years of experience in advising on high-profile campaigns.

Since 2013, Erik Gelke has been a lecturer at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, where he teaches students media law. He is also a member of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS).

Erik Gelke spends his free time with his family and friends, triathlon-training and with music, preferrably the bass or the trombone.
