Markus Bagh studied law in Bochum and Münster. During his master's degree in Law & Information Technology at the University of Stockholm, he specialised in intellectual property and copyright and media law. He was a member of the Chair of Prof. Dr. Peifer, Chair of Civil Law with Copyright, Intellectual Property, New Media and Commercial Law at the University of Cologne, where he wrote his doctoral thesis on a copyright topic on net-based retrieval systems in the legal comparison between Germany and Sweden.
Markus was admitted to the bar in 2007, to the bar in 2011 as a specialist in intellectual property law and to the bar in 2012 as a specialist in copyright and media law. Before joining the Cologne office of LLR in 2015, he worked at the Munich office of the law and patent law firm Prinz & Partner.
Markus Bagh provides comprehensive advice in all areas of intellectual property. He focuses on the development of protection strategies and the conduct of infringement proceedings, in particular in trademark, design and competition law. In addition, Markus implements worldwide measures to combat product piracy, including the control of border seizure proceedings and anti-counterfeit actions on trade fairs, in a network of international colleagues. In the area of copyright and media law, he has developed a focus on e-commerce, e-advertising and reputation protection. The Juve Handbook lists him as a frequently recommended lawyer in trademark and design law ("good team player, competent trademark lawyer", competitor - JUVE 2018/2019; "very competent, practical and success-oriented", client - JUVE 2020/2021; “fast, extremely competent, very well connected", client - JUVE 2021/2022; "very smart, always the right solution for the client", competitor - JUVE 2021/2022).
Markus Bagh lectures for various institutions as well as at national and international conferences in the fields of intellectual property law and copyright and media law. Markus is a lecturer at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW). In addition, he regularly publishes specialist articles for leading publishing houses.
Markus is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht e.V.). (GRUR), the MARQUES - The Association of European Trademark Owners, the German-Nordic Lawyers Association e.V. (DNJV) and the Intellectual Property Committee of the Cologne Bar Association.
When Markus is not working, family, friends, literature and sport - the latter preferably on a racing bike on Majorcan country roads and on skis in the Alps - apply.
